Now, more than ever, homeowners, businesses, architects, builders and interior designers call for elegant stone as their material of choice for counter tops and a host of other applications where beauty and durability should never be compromised.
There are many types of stone; however Artistic Tile & Granite specializes in granite, engineered Quartz and ‘green stones’.
What is Granite?
Granite is a combination of quartz, crystals, feldspar and minerals that form deep within the earth when hot liquid rock cools. Granite is extracted from quarries all over the world in very large bricks. These bricks are then sliced into slabs and beautifully polished. No two slabs of granite are identical; each one has distinctive natural veins and pattern variations to make it a special surface.
Granite is one of the strongest materials used for countertops and is extremely resistant to scratches and heat. Granite also has a natural elegance that will enhance the beauty of any home or facility. Our suppliers are some of the most respected in the world with rigorous quality inspections.
What is Quartz?
Quartz is a hard glossy mineral present in most rocks; especially sandstone and granite. The natural quartz in Silestone delivers distinctive depth, brilliant clarity, glimmering radiance and a cool, solid feel. Quartz is also scratch-resistant. Only three other natural minerals — diamond, sapphire and topaz — are harder than quartz.
Silestone is non-porous and is highly resistant to stains from coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar, makeup, and many other common household products.
Unlike solid surfaces and laminates, Silestone is also scorch-resistant and will withstand limited exposure to heat. Because it is non-porous, Silestone does not need to be sealed. Granite, marble and limestone must be sealed on installation and resealed regularly to prevent staining.
What is Green?
Green building projects have been widely promoted as constructing buildings that are environmentally responsible and healthy places to live and work. The surge in interest of green materials has led to a number of new surfacing products, each with different features and benefits for the interested consumer. Popular choices include recycled concrete and glass, highly compressed recycled paper and mixed glass/porcelain in epoxy. Artistic Tile & Granite is proud to be a leader in bringing green products to New Mexico.
